WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Donald Trump planned on Monday to issue a pardon for former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, a source familiar with the plan said.

Blagojevich, a Democrat, was removed from office in 2009 after prosecutors said he tried to sell or trade the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama after Obama won the 2008 presidential election.

Trump, during his first term, had commuted Blagojevich’s 14-year sentence. Blagojevich had appeared on Trump’s reality TV show, “Celebrity Apprentice.”
