CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. — Two young bobcats are now part of the Cape May County Park and Zoo’s animal family after arriving last month from Arizona. The brother and sister pair, both born in June 2024, are adjusting to life in the zoo’s small-mammals section, where they occupy the exhibit formerly used for other bobcats. Since their arrival in March, the juvenile wildcats have been on display to visitors daily during regular zoo hours, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Bobcats are medium-sized North American cats known for their distinctive short tails. They are highly elusive in the wild due to their nocturnal habits and preference for solitary living. Despite their wide range across North America, they are rarely seen by people in their natural habitat. The Cape May County Park and Zoo says the addition of the bobcats supports its mission to educate the public about wildlife and promote conservation efforts. With each new resident, the zoo continues to offer visitors up-close experiences with species they might not otherwise encounter.
The Cape May County Zoo is free and open to the public daily. It is located at 720 Route 9 North in Cape May Court House, just off exit 11 on the Garden State Parkway.
