
VINELAND — A 26-year-old Vineland man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday after being arrested three separate times with firearms. Miguel A. Hernandez pleaded guilty to three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and will serve at least five years before being eligible for parole. As part of the sentence, Hernandez was ordered to forfeit the firearms seized during his arrests, including a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson semiautomatic pistol and two 9 mm Luger semiautomatic pistols.
VINELAND — A 26-year-old Vineland man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday after being arrested three separate times with firearms. Miguel A. Hernandez pleaded guilty to three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and will serve at least five years before being eligible for parole. As part of the sentence, Hernandez was ordered to forfeit the firearms seized during his arrests, including a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson semiautomatic pistol and two 9 mm Luger semiautomatic pistols. Hernandez's criminal activity dates back to Nov. 5, 2022, when he reportedly shot at people with a water bead “Orbeez” gun while driving through the city. A search of his vehicle led to the discovery of two Orbeez guns and various firearm ammunition. Hernandez’s further arrests occurred on March 2, 2023, and March 19, 2024. In both incidents, police found firearms, including a loaded 9 mm pistol and a .40 caliber pistol, in Hernandez’s possession. The March 2024 arrest also involved Hernandez fleeing from officers, resulting in minor injuries to two police officers. Hernandez faces additional charges related to his actions during the incidents, including fleeing from police and possessing large capacity ammunition magazines.
