Atlantic City Man Charged in Fatal Crash that Killed Mays Landing Couple

Mays Landing, New Jersey  – Levon Woods, 25, of Atlantic City, has been charged with multiple counts of vehicular homicide following a fatal crash that killed a husband and wife from Mays Landing on February 22. The crash occurred around 4:09 a.m. on County Route 552, when Woods, driving under the influence, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a vehicle carrying 57-year-old Thomas Splinter and 29-year-old Nancy Orellana-Splinter.
The couple was killed in the crash, and Woods surrendered to State Police on March 27. He faces two counts of second-degree vehicular homicide, third-degree strict liability vehicular homicide, and a second-degree violation of a public safety law. A court hearing on April 2 will address whether Woods will be detained pending trial. The victims, who had recently received job promotions, are survived by their son, Andrew.
