ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – A New York developer has unveiled plans to invest over $1 billion into new entertainment, residential, and recreational projects on the oceanfront site of the Claridge Hotel and the former Sands Casino Hotel. D-Wayne Prieto, CEO of Vivo HAUS, announced the ambitious vision which includes a variety of year-round attractions designed to revitalize the area. The proposed projects will include the largest man-made outdoor ski slope in North America, surrounding a 20,000-seat stadium that could host minor league baseball, soccer, and concerts. A new 800-room hotel, 1,500 apartment units, and a 30,000-square-foot esports center are also part of the development. Additional features will include a 40,000-square-foot spa, sports courts for activities like pickleball and basketball, and even a go-kart track. Plans also include outdoor recreation areas that will host events such as summer concerts and winter ice skating. Prieto has already secured agreements to purchase both the Claridge Hotel and the Sands site. Though the deal is not finalized, the developer is actively working on securing funding and is preparing an application for New Jersey’s Aspire program to assist with any potential funding gaps. Mayor Marty Small expressed strong support for the proposal, noting the project's potential to significantly enhance Atlantic City's appeal year-round. Prieto also emphasized the importance of providing year-round programming to ensure that the city's attractions remain active throughout all seasons.
